The Ceramic Hobbyist distributes
Aim Kilns, Cress Kilns, Laguna Kilns, Olympic Kilns, Paragon Kilns & Skutt Kilns.
We usually don't have many of the large kilns in stock at our location due to the lack of space. We do occasionally carry the smaller...household firing models that the hobbyist or professional needs in order to ... Only ...
-Fire a few small pieces .... -Fire small Overglazed pieces...
-Fire beads & Magnet ... -just needs a small kiln
Electric: 'Manual' & 'Computerized' fire up to cone 10. For crystal formation.
Gas: Only 'Aim', 'Laguna' and 'Olympic' have Gas kilns.
Glass: All have "Glass Kilns" except Laguna.
In the past, I've fired Electric Kilns, Gas Kilns, Wood Fired Kilns. I've done Raku Firing, Dung Firing, Saggar Firing, Pit Firing, Crystal Formation Firing & Salt Firing. Even after I've shared my experiences with friends and customers, I still get questioned about which firing is the Best! My personal opinions as well as yours should deal mostly with what the purpose of piece is in the first place.

*How to Determine What Kiln to Buy!*
-1ST :you have to deturmine what it is that you're making and what the dimensions of the largest pieces that you're making is. Will the pieces be Decorative or Utilitarian?(Temperature and firing atmosphere will be a factor here!)
-2ND What kinds of colors are you trying to achieve. (Gas and Electric firings are two different animals!) Unfortunately, unlike painting with acryllics or oils, what you see is not necessarily what you get! Contact us for suggestions on what it is you're trying to create!
-3RD What is the type of power of choice and Can you achieve the colors in the type of firing you choose? (City Gas, Propane, Sufficient Electrical Supply) After you've deturmined the above two items, can you afford the space? |

Ultimately, the end decision rests upon the REAL ANSWER! I compare the purchase of a kiln like wines that they too may purchase. If they like it ... buy it and drink it, enjoy! Just because their friend told them that the $1000.00 bottle of wine is far superior than the $3.95 bottle that they just purchased ... and they've compared the two and have concluded that the cheaper of the two is their bottle of choice. That is the one that they should get!! End of discussion!
If you would like my opinion on what would be the best kiln for your purposes, E-mail me or call me on the phone and I will either call or E-mail a response back to you. To view the kiln companies that we normally order from, Click onto the website of the appropriate kiln company below and match the brand of your choosing for...Ceramics & Clay projects, Glass Items, Knife Making, etc... We even had a customer that purchased one to burn off the carbon from jet engines. How about that!
Mahalo for letting us help in your high temperature firing needs!
