The Ceramic Hobbyist is a full line distributor of Duncan Ceramic products.
Q:**You may ask yourself..."Why should I consider using Duncan Products?"
A:**One important reason for using Duncan's underglazes, glazes, overglazes & non-fired products could be the consistency .
Here at our store in Hawaii, we have a few customers that have been using several of the same colors by Duncan since 1975. The colors with the same numbers still match the ones used back then. Artists that fire the colors cone 06, cone 5-6 and even cone 9-10 count on Duncan's ease of application and long shelf life and consistency in their colors.
There are"3" different series of Duncan underglazes.
(EZ Strokes, CC covercoats, CN concepts)
The easiest way to describe the Duncan line of underglazes is this way...
*EZ Strokes ; These are most similar to just " Fired Earth Colorants " that have been fired and ground to a fine powder with a liquid medium added to ease application. Greenware applications are most common in the con04-06 range. Cone 5-6 & Cone 9-10 clays have the underglazes applied on Greenware or Bisque...not a major color difference. Watercolor artists appreciate the wide range of colors that are available with the EZ-Strokes and how similar the results of their art can be duplicated in ceramics with this medium.
*CC Cover Coats ; The 'CC' underglazes are very similar to the 'EZ Strokes' except they have an opacifying ingredient added for solid coverages. Some potters use the CC-Cover Coat underglazes instead of colored slips and engobes because of their ease of application and predictable colors.
Bead makers that use clays like Fimo and Cernit and Sculpey have been using the EZ strokes and CC Covercoat underglazes to color their porcelain clay bodies to realize an easier colored clay product than using many powdered ceramic stains with a result that is easily duplicated time after time!
*CN Concepts ;Most of the "Paint It Studio's", University and Community Colleges, Elementary, Middle and High School, Home Studios, Crafters, Sculptors...etc... all utilize the fantastic "CN" series of underglazes.
Underglazes of all three series, ( "EZ"-EZ strokes, "CC"-Cover Coats & "CN"-Concepts ) are just brilliant for many of the primative firings such as Pit firings, Raku firings.
University and community college students and instructors alike enjoy the wide range of bright colors in the yellows and reds and oranges available to them especially when their firings go all the way up to cone 10!
Most of the ceramic lines of color are lead-free & many of the schools use Duncan Ceramic Products because of the consistency and longevity of the products. One of the customers used one of the Duncan glazes that was forgotten on their shelf that was over 30 years old and called us to tell us how great it looked when she fired it! Now that's a great shelf life! How about that?!
Here at the Ceramic Hobbyist, we carry all of the colors in most sizes in stock most of the time. We don't always have all of the gallon sizes and most of the 5-gallon sizes are not kept in stock but ordered as needed.
All of the Duncan products have a money back guarantee. If the color does'nt match or the product consistency isn't quite the same, give us a call and we'll tell you how we can right the wrong!
